Invisible Rulership - one of the dumbest things I ever believed in
by Black Man inhaving now been out of the cult for a few years, it really shocks me about some of the nonsense i used to believe in.
like for instance, christ ruling in the midst of his enemies, but doing so invisibly.. let's let that one sink in for a minute.
you've supposedly got a king who is ruling for a kingdom, but it is an invisible rule.

I agree with you BM, invisible spirits, invisible God and invisible events plus never arriving promises...all these and more guaranteed by the Watchtower organisation...what a joke, what a complete waste time and a devastating waste of countless millions of people's lives. -

Cooperate Members of the Watchtower Society
by James Jack ina older sister in miami florida has told me that the special pioneer couple who got their walking papers last week said they are also voting members of the watchtower society.
also his stock share is valued at $800,000!.
i did some research and spoke to some longtime witnesses and found out that there are 500 voting members of the society and they are also called shareholders.. has anyone ever of someone selling his share?.

I say this without evidence but perhaps back in the forties, Knorr and those closest to power devised a new company in which to put shares and made themselves shareholders.
Like everyone else who has looked at it there are no clues to the financial backing or security of the org. Is it an agreement with a bank or a private consortium? Whatever it is the governance of the org whichever name it goes under, is hell bent on making and holding on to money...far more than a doomsday cult would ever need if there really were such a thing as Armageddon "practically on our doorstep".

When it comes to matter WTBTS, the word "seemingly" can be extremely misleading. -

Saint B, I had read the same info a couple of years ago (probably supplied by Orphan Crow on another site) but there was no mention of the original shareholders and the value of those shares or the realisation of the value or the termination of the earlier shares.
To have it confirmed would at least put it to bed, otherwise a personal financial investment could so easily translate into business-first selfish rewards sought from the WTBTS. It may have been possible to obscure the status of the original shareholders with the promise of "look no more financially interested shareholding" but still leaving the original shareholders to make profits?

Just a thought; when Knorr, the pragmatic stoney faced business mind, began to preside in 1942, no doubt he had legitimate business shares in the WTBTS. Even in photos from Rutherford's time, Knorr was there with his defensive cane in hand protecting the queen bee JFR. He looked distinctly sycophantic. He wanted to inherit Rutherford's kingdom. It would appear politic or to use JW terminology,"theocratic" for him to abolish the monetary shares in the society in 1945 but would it not be in his financial and power interests to honour the original investments?
Ok, I am cynical of the intent of the WT leadership but it would be in keeping or would it not?

I should like to ask: does anyone have any idea of what happened to the stock value of the WTBTS before the cut off date in the forties and does it still continue among the inheritors of the original stock holders ...or was it realised at that time and henceforth abolished? This does require an answer.
If it continues, it would explain the need for commercial success irrespective of the requirement for simply being prudent and solvent.
Thanks Saint B, perhaps others might have some idea of what happened in the 1940s.

This could be most interesting if true . I knew of the "shareholding" voters but wasn't aware of their financial stake in the business success of the Watchtower org. I felt I was led to understand they were non-profit shareholders. (Was there ever such a thing?) This would be a different kettle of fish!
This makes the monetary incentive to keep the WTBTS literally businesslike an absolute requirement. It entirely validates the criticism that I amongst others have made, that their doctrines are primarily commercial decisions. Damn the belieifs and forget religious scruples...what really counts is the value of the shares!
I understand (but would welcome correction) that the shareholders are "company men", that is those whose loyalty to the org is unquestioned. Your information would make the revision in my thinking that company men have also to be well heeled and able to afford the latest in expensive wrist watches as well, even if they were special pioneers or gb members.
James Jack, could there be stock invested from before the 1944/5 cut off point?
